I arrived at the Oregon coast today so I can’t ride any further west but I do have a few days left in my journey. I will ride back inland to Portland and then take the train to Seattle. The Oregon coast is beautiful. It has high waves for surfing and the mountains come right up to the beach. My campground for the night is in some trees right on the beach so I will be able to hear the waves crashing on the shore. Nice.
What a ride! What are you planning for an encore? Will your bike manage the long flight back east? Riding around Guilford county may be a bit boring now! Speaking of “boring” will you take time to visit “Boring” Oregon, the city who is competing with “Normal” Illinois for the most ordinary place in the U.S.A. to visit?
Congratulations on successfully completing trans-America journey! We’re very proud of you.
Congratulations on completetly your amazing trek west. Thanks for taking us all along with you and sharing this (once in a lifetime ?) experience. Loved the picture of you in the surf in front of the Haystack rock. Very cool! Have a safe trip back and hope to see you soon!
We met early on in your adventure at the Red River Gorge in KY. You shared your campsite with the Hutchinson ‘boys’ and the Dotson ‘boys’. You also shared a story about stone soup and in turn we shared oatmeal, hot apple cider, and potato soup. Congratulations! Glad you completed your journey safely. It has been a joy following your posts and pictures and has made me envious. Bet of wishes to you as you prepare for your next adventure. There will be another, right?
Congratulations Kman. Certainly glad you made it safely. Looking forward to catching a ride with you when you get back and talking about your adventure. Also, wondering if the time spent on the ride opened up a decision about the future?!
I, too, am wondering what you will do next! Are you retiring your bike from active service now? This was a great adventure, well-planned from start to finish. Do you know how many people have viewed your website? By the way, the photos of you at the beach are great!
I do NOT plan on retiring my bike when I get home. In fact this trip has left my eager to continue riding. Besides my legs have grown accustomed to turning 500 mile weeks all summer so I don’t think it be wise to try and stop cold turkey. As far as another tour, I will definitely be planning another trip for next summer. I have a few ideas in mind but haven’t decided yet. I do not imagine I will be able to take another trip of this magnitude (after all this was a once in a lifetime, right?) but I’m sure it will be very interesting and exciting!
K Man I have not been able to get your web page with the map of the US to load for about two weeks now. I have keep up with your trip every day up till the problem. Are other people having any trouble. I sure would like to see the pictures because you are on some of the roads and places I was in 1999 when I rode the trans america.Congratulations on a great trip. Thanks Rick
Rick,
You might try logging on from a different PC. I don’t know of anyone else having a problem getting the app to load. Or maybe try typing in the URL again in the address line.
